How To Pool In-Floor Cleaning Systems Professionally?

How To Pool In-Floor Cleaning Systems Professionally

An in-ground pool gives you a realistic view of your home premises, and it also may bring disaster if the water gets polluted. It sounds troublesome to mop the entire pool as an extra house chore once a week.

Luckily, nowadays, people use an in-floor cleaning system to purify the pool water within a second. But if you don’t know how to pool in a floor cleaning system, you won’t benefit from this.

This is why, in this article, I’m trying to break down proper guidance so that you can get a complete idea about this. I’m also discussing the installation cost of any third party, pros, cons, etc. Let us dive into the depths.

5 Worthy Phases Of Installing A Pool In-Floor Cleaning System:

To install a pool in the floor cleaning system, you need to gather something. First, you need to understand the diagram about the floor cleaning system. I have discussed this above.

Now move to the main task and gather all the things we need to finish the task. Below I have discussed the sectional job of the process to do it with more clarity.

Phase-1: Collect The Things You Need For Assembling Pool In-floor Task

Gather the following materials and divide the entire work into five sections. You need to follow each phase attentively as they are interlinked with your whole installation process.

  • Measure Tape,
  • Bond beam- 4-5,
  • In-floor system valve,
  • PVC cement / Compatible Primer,
  • 3-inches stagger line pipe,
  • Check valve,
  • In-floor system collar -⅔,
  • Pipe reamer machine.

Phase-2: Prepare The Pool & Verify The Pool In Floor Match To Your Pool

After excavating your pool, take a measuring tape to measure the pool length and width. Every floor system comes with a distinct valve. There you find a rounded valve including 3-circuits with 1-port.

After that, follow the below steps carefully to do the job appropriately:

Step-1: Excavate The Pool Ground

Before installing them, ensure that your pool dimension is about 6″ in-depth, and 24″ inches in width. Now, follow your design planned to make a swivel excavation. Try to excavate a line trench depth sufficient to cover all the pipes.

Step-2: Run Out The Feed Lines At The Top Of The Bond Beams

Next, you have to run out the feed lines on top of the bond beams. Position them to stand at the corner of the pool. To reduce plumping costs, layout the systems that the feed pipes enter into the pool and close to the pool’s center.

Remember that you must not lay these pipes out on the pool floor. That means those pipelines must not cross the lines, lay them vertically.

Step-3: Position Feed Lines In A Perpendicular Manner

In this step, an individual should have to position all the feed pipes perpendicularly. As you complete this process, the entire area looks like the marching ground of a Militia soldier. After finishing this process, I’m now moving on to the second phase of our installation task which is valve installation. To optimize this part attentively.

Phase-3: Valve Installation Inside The Pool

It is worth mentioning that valves are the central part of the in-floor cleaning system, as they purify the debris and separate the dirt from the water. In this section, you must follow only three steps carefully:

Step-1:Position The In-Floor Cleaning Valve

You must position the valve at least five feet away from the pool. Otherwise, it may not work, or the primary purpose of installing this into the pool can go in vain. However, now disclose the valve lid/ vail. You will be able to see 2-port 4 gear, 2-port 5 gear, 3-6 port, a pressure gauge, and many more.

Step-2: Plumbing The In-Floor Cleaning Valve

In this step, it’s time to plumb the floor cleaning valve. Do not use any cheaper glues or anything before plumbing the valve housing into the steam lines or gear housing. Always try to use heavy-duty or medium PVC cement or compatible primers. Those are equally helpful to hold the valve over the pipe areas.

Now install the discharge lines about 6″ inches to below grade or according to the local codes. Use a 3″-inches stagger to provide enough line clearance across the cutting pipe. Install the valves so that the lid and bone clamps lay at least 3″ inches above the pool.

Step-3: Combine All The Bond Beams & Plumbing Them Vertically

Combine the ports inside the valve if your pool has any raised body of water connected to the cleaning system, for instance, SPA, etc. You need to add a check valve that prevents draining to prevent raising body drainage to lower bodies of water.

If you need to attach the water level insulation, it is necessary to add a shut-off valve. Shut off valves helps to prevent flooding drainage systems. So try to install these shut-off valves in all lines. Next, take the read of the pressure inside the valves. Remember that the pressure test must be at 35 psi following the local pressure code.

Phase-4:Collar Installation

You need to dig out the plumbing pipe inside the ground in this part. Cut each of the pipe risers to allow ½ inches of finish material. Next, bring the collar to install them inside the pool ground. To make the pipe entrance translucent, use a pipe rimer machine. Make it clear and facile.

Furthermore, the interior dimension of the pipe can vary up to 2-3″ inches on average. After digging the plumbing pipe across the pool, attach the collar over the pipe with the help of PVC cement.

Make sure that the collar will dry up to half or maximum. If you don’t let it dry half, it may not fit into the pipe properly. Again, you should not force or stomp on the collar as this will void the warranty. It is essential to keep the orange cap of the collar at the upper part of the riser after installing them.

Phase-5: Give The Interior Pool A Final Finish / Coverage

The final section of this task is to paint the entire pool with any desired color. Use a rack to make them even and ensure that the interior finishes cover all the collars.

How Does A Pool In-Floor Cleaning System Work?

A pool in the floor cleaning system will run by an automatic valve or a set of electro-valves to help distribute water evenly. It ensures water from everywhere in the pool. In addition to a series of valves, most floor cleaning systems also come with a series of nozzles.

Strategically, you can place it in areas like the stairs, walls, top of the pool premises, and around the fountain areas of the pool. The mainstream of this tool is its intensive nozzle that disburses pressured water to sweep dirt and debris into the pool.

Pool in-floor cleaning systems are usually used in any pool, regarding their size and adjusting the power of water circulation. Therefore, it’s crucial to get some advice from professionals if you’re ignorant about installing them into the pool.

Another vital fact about this pool in the cleaning system is its efficient circulation. With the help of proper water circulation, the tool gets good distribution power. It avoids debris as well as dirt accumulation. You can compare the process to osmosis power. The tool once devours the entire jet water of the pool, then leaves it with a total clearance.

Any typical in-floor cleaning system works as a leveler to pull all the dirt towards the main drain. You can imagine the whole procedure for any enrolling cleaning system. A cleaning system has a pop-up base simple mechanism. Each system’s pop-up sprays pressurized and filtered water in a particular direction.

The pool in-floor cleaning system works to suck all the dirt and debris inside of the pool to easily remove them later. By this, the water pollutants will move towards the main drainage. The system drain then sucks that filthy debris, and you can sweep them later.

Rather than working alone, most of the floor cleaners choose to work combinedly or on a group basis. By this, those in floor tools can trace and clean the wide areas of the pool within a second.

Crucial Advantages Of In-floor Cleaning Systems

The in-floor cleaning system only focuses on cleaning or freeing all the dirt and pollutants from the pool. It also does some external work that brings and provides a great atmosphere surrounding the pool areas. So, you may now wonder what those advantages are? To know them in detail, take a look below.

  • Improves Water Circulation & Heat

Good water circulation and sufficient heat are key to any pool. Whatever type of pool you have, a healthy atmosphere is necessary if it will be used for your purposes. The floor cleaning system works to improve water circulation and helps balance the heat in the pool. This will give you a healthy atmosphere inside the pool.

  • Use Less Electricity

The floor cleaning system requires less electricity than the other manuals. Most cleaning systems demand more than this. Consequently, you may have to spend more money on installing them into the pool. Thankfully, if you choose a floor cleaning system, it will not cut off any extra expenditure from you.

  • Can Be Installed In Any Pool

No matter what kind of pool or design you’re selected to do for your house premises. The floor cleaning system can be used in almost every type of pool.

  • Variety Of Color Options

You will find plenty of color options before installing any in the floor cleaning system. This is the main benefit of using any floor cleaner, as those things have an option to match the pool color easily.

  • Quieter Than Any Robotic Cleaner

The final merit of any floor cleaning system is that they are quieter than any robotic cleaner. A robotic cleaner is not automatic. You need to carry it, take it out, place it, and move it.

Most of the time, it requires too much time. At the same time, the floor cleaning system is automatic and less troublesome than any robotic cleaners. And the most hesitation you may feel by installing the robotic cleaner is its louder sound.

Troubles You May Face While Using Any In-floor Cleaning System

There are many benefits to the in-floor cleaning system and only a few downsides. Some critical troubles of using any floor cleaning systems are discussed below.

  • Only Clean The Bottom Of The Pool

The floor cleaning system only requires you to clean the bottom of the pool. It doesn’t go in-depth to clean the floor surfaces, which may be dirty with moss or lichens. In that case, you need to clean the entire pool area once a week.

  • It can Be Costly To Install

Installing an in-floor cleaning system may be costly for you sometimes. Installing them inside the pool requires some expensive tools, including beam bones, high-end PVC cement, primer, plumbing pipes, etc.

The cost may increase when you take help from any third party to install them. On the other hand, you also need to change the pool water and clean the entire pool once a month to reduce the impact of mosses.

How Much Does It Cost To Install Any Pool In-Floor Cleaning System?

The cost of the pool in the floor system depends on the size and shape of your swimming pool. Correspondingly, the self-cleaning pool costs up to around $5k. Or sometimes, it may raise to $10k or more. This is an essential cost that you need to pay for installing the system at your home. Meanwhile, if you want to add additional features inside the pool, it may increase following the choice.

Again, those systems cannot easily be integrated once you install them completely.

Why Is It Better To Pool With In-Floor Cleaning Systems?

The floor cleaning system has lofty benefits. You will never be able to utter them in words. Apart from sanitizing, mopping the dirt and debris from the pool is the main aim of such a cleaning system. Along with this, the floor cleaning system spreads a healthy atmosphere inside the pool areas.

Sufficient oxygen and breathable elements are provided by this tool. On the other hand, it contributes to heat loss, distributing chemicals, and reduces energy to keep the pool clean and tidy.

Is It Worth Using A Vacuum Inside The Pool Instead Of On The Floor?

Vacuuming any pool surfaces won’t give you the actual result that you want. The vast majority of people don’t require a vacuum cleaner, as they need to carry the tool. It is valid for all types of vacuum cleaners, and you will get temporary results from them. But you may not get the expected results from any of the floor cleaning systems

Moreover, the vacuum cleaner works like any regular broom. They won’t provide any healthy chemicals to keep the water hygienic and usable. The vacuum didn’t have the additional functions to clean the impurities from the root.

Can You Use Integrating Solar Pool Heaters With In-floor Cleaning?

Integrating solar pool heaters is an excellent way to attach to any floor cleaning system. But you need to install them with the correct length and width of the plumbing pipe.

Generally, a plumbing pipe requires at least 2.5″ for suction plumbing. Again, 1.5″ inches of plumbing is also worth a maximum ¾ hp pump as it would not run the in-floor cleaners. Furthermore, you won’t need to bypass the main head of the pump to fix the heaters.

What’s The Difference Between In-floor Cleaning Vs On-floor Pool?

Their power sources are one of the most significant differences between the two. When it comes to floor cleaners, you don’t find any clutter there. People widely use this tool for their intensive benefits, like “no hose, no equipment.” It improves pool hygiene and water circulation.

Comparatively, on-floor cleaners are fast and need a shorter period to clean a larger pool. Again, the pressure cleaner is attached to the timer clock enough to catch any debris from the pool automatically.

How Many Parts Does an In-floor Cleaning System Have?

Almost every floor cleaning system has three distinct parts: nozzles, valves, collars, etc. For instance,

  • 2 nozzles on a line (for distributing the valve),
  • 2″ inches PVC pipe,
  • 4 nozzles,
  • The plumbing Water valve (for adjusting the water pump & make a vertical PVC port),
  • Valve circuit layout (to sustain the water flow),
  • Deck side canister,
  • Nozzle placement for SPA, etc.
